Established in 1850, Hatfield Cricket Club originally traced its roots back to 1789, as evidenced by recent discoveries. In 1912, a brief merger with Hatfield Hyde led to the formation of Hatfield United CC, only to dissolve post-World War I.
After the 1922 season, Hatfield CC relocated from Hatfield Park to “The Showfield” in St Albans Road East, joining forces with Hatfield United FC to become Hatfield United Athletic Club. Subsequently, in 1928, they shifted to the Stonecross Road “Oval” due to housing development plans. By 1938, the club reverted to its original name, Hatfield CC.
The aftermath of World War II saw a consolidation of the two Hatfield clubs, leading to Hatfield Park becoming their home again in 1946. Initially named Hatfield Estate CC, the club adopted the moniker Hatfield Estate (& Town) CC until 1977, when it returned to Hatfield CC. Eviction notice from Hatfield Park in 1977 prompted a move to Ascots Lane, their current ground since 1979.
In 2012, Hatfield CC merged with Hatfield Crusaders CC, formerly known as Potters Bar Crusaders, forming Hatfield & Crusaders Cricket Club.
